  1. Under $500 (used)... AT 4047, original GT MD1a, Crowley & Tripp Naked Eye. under $300 (used) AKG 451 now and again for bright tones. Rarely, but sometimes perfect. On the other side of the world, I've gotten some really cool sounds with a compressed sm7b. Again, rare usage but sometimes very cool. Been a while since I've used an 81 but remember them being nice on acoustic.
  2. Does a used SM7b fall into the price range? If so, that's a no-brainer. Works well on pretty much everything, is amazing on many things. How about an SM-57 with the Tab-Funkenwerk transformer upgrade? Used MD421? Mebbe an Audix I5 if the above are all still out of budget. All are good electric guitar mics than can work well on other sources as well.
  3. Crowley & Tripp Naked Eye ribbon mic. Compares favorably to the Royer 121. USA made, awesome mic, excellent condition. Really excellent on guitars (electric and acoustic) and string instruments. Cool for darker drums as well. no longer for sale (isn't letting me delete?)
  4. anyone have API 500 series/lunchbox style modules? Pres, EQs, comps... whatever you got, I may be interested. 6 spaces left to fill on my 500 rack...

  7. Fender '73 Telecaster Bass - Black Cat Superfuzz - Menatone Fish Factory - Ampeg SVT-III. when I'm on guitar, though, all bets are off...
