  1. I have 3 LPs...a '52 Goldtop (original), a '95 Custom Shop LP Custom Flametop (2 PU), and an Epi Ultra II (chambered). The Epi is my favorite player, although the LP Custom has better sustain and tone. The Goldtop is a trusty old friend (I've owned since '68), and while its got Mojo out the Yingyang, its not as developed as the others and has occasional issues due to its age (hum, lower output, intermittent switching, etc). Of the three, I'd prefer playing the Epi due to the lighter weight for a long gig, and its incredible tonal offering. Using the piezo pickup, combined with a Janglebox compressor makes it sound like I'm playing a Martin if I want. But, then, it can go back to crunchy Les Paul licks that we all love. If money were no object, I'd be trying one of the Lifeson LP's, as on-paper anyway, it seems to have the best of all features.
