I'm not disputing different. But test driving a GFS P90 (or whatever) isn't going to tell you much about how good it might sound with, say, a Duncan or Lollar in it. It's just a big step down in quality is what I'm saying and even though it might be different, it isn't going to be as good. EG and likewise a duncan or lollar won't tell you much about how a gfs pickup will sound. what if the sound you're looking for is actually that of a gfs? i can see where you're coming from but i couldn't agree less, what with tone being so subjective (context/player/guitar/amp dependent) it's impossible to say that a gfs wont be as good. it sure will be different but better? who knows, it may be, but i'd check the cheaper option first...just in case.

Looks like you had your fun stalking me there bonenut. It's all good. I wouldn't say it anywhere on this board if I didn't care who read it. I never criticized the GFS because it's cheap. I simply told the OP that it would in no way be an upgrade. Anyone who honestly believes that a GFS pickup is gonna hang, qualitywise, with what is already there is deluding themselves. Sorry, but there's no way an inexpensive import pickup is gonna hang with SCNs and Burstbuckers. That's just ridiculous. GFS certainly has its place. Hell, I've bought from them but I'm not going to think that I'm getting something better than cheap import parts. That's what they sell. EG but everyone is shooting for a different tone. everyone has a different route to finding the tone they are after. and its certainly financially easier (for most people) to check out the cheaper options first.

my first post said... i agree with frets, he's made his point, said why he's made his point and explained it further. can't he have his own opinion in case he offends someone. and pickups are pickups, they are all just a mix of plastic, wire and magnets. the quality differs obviously but when i had my mim tele i tried more expensive pickups but always came back to the stock (prob very cheap) pickup because that was the sound that suited me. dick. my second post said i like to use the word dick. short, snappy, gets the point across. have all the good members left? a little group of "popular" members may have left but there are good people here. i think you need to get over the whole "all the good members are left", "it's sad watching this place die" shit you keep mentioning and get back to using the forum. OP, what dusenberg do you have? i've heard good things about the pickups before but popping a cheap set of GFS, pickups or something won't leave you massively out of pocket and are worth a try (can always sell them on to cut your costs if they aren't for you.) please note the text that is bold. it can depend so much on the artist and also if you go in a with a design of your own (or a print out or something) or you ask them to design one from scratch. I drew mine myself so it was just a case of going in and my guy copying it. and do you know what, to make this post even more pointless, I can't even remember how much they (i've got 6) cost me, except my first little one of a tudor rose that cost me

bassist needs to stop singing and needs to wear better clothes. you (assuming you are the guitarist) have your own quirky style, singer is pretty hot and nicely dressed and he's just looks like he's made less effort. anyone who says it's not about what you look like on stage is wrong, people use their eyes as much as their ears at gigs. and on the same note the singer is a little static but maybe her stage presence will come with experience. hard to tell much about the sound from the recording but it all seemed to be played well enough from a music point of view and the song itself was better than most bands i see playing around little clubs and battle of the band things.

I don't love him or hate him. He's just not very relevant to any of my musical interests. same here. he's certainly not made himself easy to love over the years from what i can tell.
