What strings are you using? Your 5th Avenue doesn't sound like the two I played. It sounds more like some smaller flat tops I've played, until you start the single-note runs at the end. Then it sounds like the ones I've played. Now, you need to put a magnetic pick-up on it and witness the hollow-body electric monster it becomes. The big change in sound came with fitting the bridge and the Jazz III pick. Big differences in sound, both. Especially the bridge fitting part.
