Members AJ6stringsting
I have a Strat with two Fender Texas Special pickups in the neck and middle and a 11.97k ohm Dragonfire Duo Rail pickups. If I yanked out the 47 mf cap and replaced it with a 22 mf cap, would that introduce more mids and bass to the guitar's tone ?
Members gardo
You could try something like this and let your ears decide. [video=youtube_share;drpL0pacXBw]
Members DeepEnd
Depends on what you want. A lower value capacitor will cause the tone control to affect a higher frequency range, in this case roughly an octave higher than what you have now (47/22). If the tone control is maxed it shouldn't have much effect anyway but if you roll off the tone with a 22µF capacitor as opposed to a 47µF cap it will leave more mids intact. Members badpenguin
A lot depends on how you use your tone and volume controls. If looking to drop the highs a bit, just lower the volume on the guitar a touch. Since it (probably) doesn't have a .001 cap, a lower volume, will cut the high end a touch. Secondly, this is the most subjective part here, caps are cheap. Buy a few, and see what works for your needs. For a tone switch in my 65 Gretsch, I used 6 .001 caps, and a .22 to get what I wanted. I went thru about 12 versions, before finding that sweet spot. Price, maybe $3 for all 12 versions.

Members badpenguin
While some great information, it kinda reminds me of my Pysch 101 teacher. Best sleep I ever had in class!
Members WRGKMC
I think you mean a .022uf cap not a 22mf cap. Most 22uf caps are large electrolytic's used for power supplies or motor starters.
