f-hole covers? - controlling semi-hollow feedback

Has anyone seen or used f-hole covers of some sort on their hollow bodies/semi-hollow bodied guitars to control feedback?

A friend of mine suggested either a) taping the holes closed or b) stuffing the guitar with my old socks.

What do you guys think should be done to control feedback. I envisioned some sort of foam stuffer that could slip into the f-holes. I'm even thinking of building a pair myself to try it out.

I have searched for such a product, but can't seem to find anything.

I think it's a bit of a lost cause, stuffing things inside a guitar to control feedback. That's like buying a 4x4 and only driving on the road...

:p

Anyway, I'd imagine it would help control feedback, but you'd lose tone in a big way. My entirely hollow Gretsch feeds back like a motherfucker, but I live with it, cos it sounds so good. Stand away from the amp, and get facing the right way. Are you playing in a live enviroment?
