Members dooshbag
Not really. I don't understand the fascination with these...I learned to play on one when I was 15....it made it to some early gigs...but I dumped it as soon as I could. Not really a great instrument. Members HeatherAnnePeel
I played a Lead III back in the early '80s and it was great. I'd grab this if you like it.
Members BASSDAD
Too much! For $550 ( likely even less) you can get an 80's MIJ Strat that will ghetto stomp that thing.
Members riffy
$550 is too high IMHO. That isn't a bad guitar though.
Members fuzztone
Ok,thanks everybody.I never saw one before and I just had no Idea what it was worth.
Members doppelbanger
Nice guitars and cheap for a fender USA but yeah i think they go for cheaper on ebay from time to time.
Members dcindc
I wouldn't buy it for half that. edit: a NICE Contemporary Strat would stomp that for less.
Members HeatherAnnePeel
Funny, I remember when these were new. Seems like just yesterday in some ways. Time flies, indeed.

Members HeatherAnnePeel
I put these and similar second string Fenders in the same category as the Gibson Sonex, Marauder, S-1, 335-S and RD Artist. Good guitars that often go overlooked.

Members aclarke
I've been watching the Lead series for a while now (got my eye out for a lead III) - the market price over here seems to be creeping up a fair bit recently. I have not seen a decent Lead II for much under $1,000 in about 6 months. For that price, I'd buy it. Members Burningleaves
$550 for what looks like a very clean all original "vintage" (late 70's early 80's) USA Fender guitar is not unreasonable (imo). The hardshell case is a bonus. Think about it. Your getting basically an early 80's strat neck, tuners, and pups thrown on an oddball body. Members SteinbergerHack
I had a Lead I when they came out - I really liked that guitar. Wish I had it now...... $550 sounds a bit high to me, but if it plays well and you like the feel.....? My only concern would be that it's getting into the "vintage" realm, which means that doing anything like swapping pickups would reduce the value. If you like it the way it is, though, it could well be a very nice instrument.
Members ArKay
Here's a III which is currently at $700. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180291305097 It comes with the original molded case though. Looks pretty cool except for the weird pickups.

Members ArKay
^^^ Those humbuckers look huge on the pickguard. The guitar is a little smaller than a standard strat? A few completed auctions. I have not played one in many years but from memory they are def' smaller in the body than the standard strat size. Between say a strat and a Musicmaster type. Seems those completed auctions reveal the asking price from the OP as around about the current value.

Members fuzztone
It's an OK price for a store, yup. The store would give me $325 in credit for my Rickenbacker copy,so I would cost me $225 to buy it.Still,if they only sell for $400 on Ebay I guess I won't get it. Members dcindc
You can more than 325 for your copy. You are being hosed on both ends.
