Members docjeffrey
We saw Priest at Red Rocks last night and it was an absolute killer show. They are doing the entire British Steel album along with the usual hits. Only one song from Nostradamus (title song). Glen Tipton was top notch as usual. Whitesnake was also on the card. Honestly, I couldn't name you a single song that they've done and when I got a look at the lead singer, pretty boy {censored}, I remembered why I ignored them in the first place. They got through 5 songs and the singer said that his voice hurt and they left the stage in shame. Pussies. I felt bad for their fans who attended the show. Rob Halford said, "That's what you get with a Las Vegas band," but then he went on to say what a great person the singer was and how bad he felt, blah blah blah. We sat in the 8th row. Gorgeous night at Red Rocks. Not even a drop of rain. I think that's a first for me in a very long time. By the way, PopEvil opened. Michigan band. Great stuff. They were in awe of getting to play at Red Rocks "A dream come true..." Excellent, young, hungry band with a lot of passion.
Members Eddie
Coverdale is a great singer. It's a shame that he was having problems. Many great guitarists have played with him. I do recall some odd stories about him firing band members... "Whitesnake 2009 U.S. Tour Official Announcement 8-12-2009 "Unfortunately, last night at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver, Whitesnake had to cut their performance short due to Mr Coverdale experiencing considerable pain in his vocal chords. He was immediately taken to a specialist for examination. The specialist discovered that David was suffering from severe vocal fold edema and a left vocal fold vascular lesion. He was instructed to cancel all performances for the next two weeks & then undergo a further examination. The doctors told us we were fortunate this was caught at a stage where no apparent permanent damage has been caused. We therefore regretfully have to announce that Whitesnake will not be appearing on the remainder of the US tour with Judas Priest, Whitesnake sincerely regrets any disappointment this may cause."" Members Fusion1
Sucks for Coverdale, but probably a win/win for Judas Priest. Maybe they can get a heavier band to tour with now
Members docjeffrey
Most other pros would have finished the set. Bono had the fans help him sing when he was almost voiceless during the Vertigo tour. Steven Tyler was completely out of sorts at the Denver show two weeks ago. He just backed off and let the band do the work. Cloverdale (thanks for supplying the name) came out screaming like a {censored}ing banshee. He should have taken a different approach. He sounded fine. Suck it up and sing. I still think he's a pretty boy {censored}. He was visibly agitated about not being the headliner. He made a couple of sarcastic comments about having to play second chair to Priest. "We've never seen this place in the daylight..." Whitesnake represents everything I hated about their particular Loverboy genre of music in the 80's. That's why so many of us welcomed Soundgarden, Nirvana and Pearl Jam with open arms. Members twisty571
Man I'm jealous and just saw Priest, also just saw Aerosmith & I guess we are early on the tour because the singers all had great voices here:thu: Cruefest 2 on Sunday:wave:

He places the mic to his cheek or chin or ear whenever there's a high note I like all of the bands you mentioned, and I also like Whitesnake. I don't follow the band that much, but IIRC Vivian Campbell, Steve Vai, Adrian Vandenberg, and John Sykes have been part of the band. Not bad! The stuff Coverdale did with Page was quite good. It's a shame that he did not go on with the show. And speaking of Steven Tyler, I wish him a speedy recovery.
Members ashasha
Coverdale's one of the few 80's singers that I have some respect for....I have no idea why; I just do. I love that frickin ampitheater....I saw Maiden there in the early 90's when I was in school at Lowry. Great show, but the place itself was just mind blowing. I am jealous that you get to see so many shows there.
Members ElectricEye
Wow...some pretty harsh words for a singer who's been around a very long time. I've seen two shows on this tour. The first night, Coverdale was struggling. the next, he was ON. And both times put on a very entertaining show and really seemed happy to be playing again. He was joking around and genuinely showed he was having a lot of fun. Whitesnake hasn't played the states in a very long time. If the OP knew what he was talking about. Coverdale has been battling laryngitis the past week or so and they had to cancel a few shows last week, so cut the guy a break, will ya? And, frankly, Whitesnake has some incredible songs in their catalog. Still of the Night is STILL one of my favorite songs from that era, and I'm not even a die-hard WS fan. {censored} boy singer? Really? He was one of the few "men" who could sing. And I believe if you called him that to his face he'd beat you silly and pour some cold British tea on ya to boot. Members Alex_SF
I caught the tour in Concord, CA about 2 weeks ago. Coverdale was struggling a lot to hit the high notes that night: when the songs got to a point with a scream, he'd just do this harsh, rough, atonal shriek that was painful to listen to. I recall thinking that maybe it's finally time for him to hang it up -- but now I hear he's been battling laryngitis and ultimately had to call off the tour, I'll give him some benefit of the doubt for the trouble he was having at the show I went to. I have a pretty sensitive throat myself, and understand that a rock tour with few nights off can be pretty rough on a singer's instrument, especially once an irritation or infection gets hold of you. If'n I hear Breaking the Law one more time I think I'll gag...... Yeah, Priest has a few overplayed tunes and several that I consider filler, even on British Steel ("United," f'rinstance) ... but their best stuff is amazing enough to make the filler worth sitting through. I was happy to hear them pull out a couple from their best album, Sad Wings of Destiny -- "Victim of Changes" and "Ripper" -- and only sorry that they didn't do "Electric Eye" at the Concord show. Members V-Type
I caught that show here in Detroit. Whitesnake must have had a bad night for you. They sounded great when I saw them and Doug Aldrich was doing a Great imitation of Sykes all night. You wanna talk about Whitesnake sounding like pussies. Go back too when Viv Campbell and Adrian Vandenberg were in the band. Now that was some boring ass {censored}.
