FX for Bass

Colleague of mine is looking into getting some effects for his Bass, he would like to brighten up his sound a little bit when he wants to and he's looking into compression as well. Are there any good multi-effects for bass available?

 

Is the Tech 21 Bass Driver something that can be used for this?

The Tech 21 Sans Amp thing is great for bass. It'll make a $300 rig sound like a $1500 rig.

 

Bassists also seem to like the diamond comp.

There's a multi-channel version of it so you can have up to 6 different EQ and gain settings, plus an effects loop.

if he just wants to brighten his tone a bit, like add a little presence, there's a lot pedals that will do this and he doesn't have to spend a lot.

a Boss ODB-3 bass overdrive is an excellent choice because it has an eq and clean blend knob on it, the key with any od pedal on bass is to be subtle with it.

I've used a lot compressor pedals on bass and so far my favourites are a Boss LM-2 Limiter, and a Boss CS-3 (mij).
