Digitech GSP1101 users group thread

It seems like this preamp/processor is getting some love as of late in the HCAF.

How about we make this into a tips/tricks/preset/suggestion thread?

Mine is still running the factory firmware, but I think I may upgrade to the C63 firmware.

Also, I have an FCB1010 foot controller, but programming the MIDI between these two is a pain in the ass. Right now, my FCB1010 will send program changes, but I can't figure out how to map the expression pedals to control the wah and pitch shifter. I think it is because I have the older EPROM on my FCB1010. I'll upgrade it eventually and report back.

Great multi FX unit.

Currently using mine in 4CM with my Laney VH100R with excellent results.

I've also modded my amp with a Sherlock Midi Mod kit, so when i change presets it will change to whatever channel i've programmed.

Best rig i've ever had.

I have one and I love it.

But I only use a chorus and a delay pedal on my gigs these days so I only mess with the 1101 at home.

I really enjoy hooking it up in different ways.. 4CM, effects only in the loop, or just straight into an amp.

I haven't tried direct into a P.A. yet..... but that would be cool because I may go amp-less with one of my bands if that works.

I have one and dig it. It replaced an entire rack of gear. Check out the vid I just did in my sig. I use the FCB1010 (last updated about 5 years ago not the UNO one) with no problems at all. It didn't take very long to set it up either. basically in Xedit just assign the controller # to the effect you want to control. Cheers, Lucius

raceu4her did perhaps the best mesa boogie mark DI clip with the GSP 1101 but he erased it! He had done disposable heroes and pretty much nailed it. More or less better than some axe-fx mark clips that I searched when I was interested and before getting some real mesa boogie...

But for value/sound/capabilities the made in usa GSP 1101 cannot be beat. I was really dissapointed that digitech goes the idon't sorry, the apple way with that gbp10 and that {censored}ing apple pedal they put out instead of improving the GSP 1101 and RP series with ...more power and effects actually and better I.R. capability.

Cheers matey - really good demo!

It's damn near impossible to find demos on youtube that aren't either recorded with some sort of 1970s mono tape recorder, or where the dude spends 9 minutes talking and talking and talking and christ this is tedious.

Nice tones too :D

one thing that really made a huge difference for me when I previously owned one (interestingly the SAME exact unit will be in my possession as of tonight) is to load in some custom IRs (Redwirez was my preferred) and use those. Really woke up the processor for recording and direct usages.

I have a HD500, but I still want to try a GSP1101. I am usually impressed with the RP500 and RP1000 when I play them.

I really was surprised with mine.. I tried a pod hd bean.. and was all for it. But I was able to snag a gsp1101 and decided to give it a shot. I really think its got a lot going for it.. I wish digitech would have made this its flagship item.

Its weird because I can never seem to run into a GSP1101. I would grab one if I found one cheap enough.

I can say though, after the last time I checked out a RP500 a month or so ago, I was able to dial in the HD500 very close by using an ultra trebly compressor in front of the amps. I still think the effects on the DIgitechs are cleaner though.

framushead - use GIRL

http://mustbebeta.com/generalforum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=674

I went on a IR downloading spree over the weekend....haven't had a chance to test them yet though!

downloaded:

free demo Redwirez Marshall cab

free demo Recabinet cab (marshall too i think?)

something called God's cabinet which is a multi mic'ed Mesa Recto OS cab

guitar hacks (Andy Sneap) impulses

there's plenty of free IRs online is the point I'm trying to make :)

Great unit. Although I just went from using the 1101 with in-ears to my Peavey Rockmaster into a G-major II, and then into a Behringer G100 DI with speaker sim, but the 1101 isn't going anywhere, I can easily see myself using it again in some capacity.

Ahilw back I saw a fella with a stompbox pedal board going PA direct having fairly respectable tone (as well as solid chops). Later I checked his gear, and he pointed to the G100 as the main reason. He's Behringer-sponsored, so I gave him a lil {censored} of course. He said "no. not trollin' ".

And here ya go confirming it. I'd like to work it in with my Tonelab (maybe)...how do you have your rig set....any insight?

in a similar vein as the behringer g100....

I wonder how using the GSP1101 in to a powered monitor would work out?

a lot of the axe fx guys run direct and then use a powered monitor (Mackie HD 1221 for example) I'm fond of the idea, just wanna try it out before i invest.
