yep...30 years...not exactly what was originally envisioned, eh?
"We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties due to reality fluctuations. The elves are working tirelessly to patch the correct version of reality. Activities here have been temporarily disabled since the fundamentals of mathematics, physics and reason may be incomprehensible during this indeterminate period of instability. Normal service will be restored once we are certain as to what 'normal' is."

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally used up and worn out, shouting '...man, what a ride!'

I don't think anyone envisioned what the WWW would become.

Certainly not the worldwide pornswamp...it was originally designed for academic research between university libraries...does anyone remember the 1966 film by Francis Ford Coppola "You're a Big Boy Now"?
The kid had a gig with the NY Public Library main branch, working in the 'stacks'...they wore roller skates to get around in that cavernous basement...I actually knew someone who did that job after high school. Comparing that process for researching to the internet of today...mindboggling how anything got done back then.
