Members MikeyParent
As per the title - who are the singers who just blow you away? Both vocally and performance-wise. I am late to the game on her perhaps but I just discovered Nikka Costa. Holy {censored}! Members chamcham
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I love to listen to Japanese music. As far as singing voice, some of my favorite voices are: MISIA - she's a tiny Japanese girl with a super big powerful voice. Fukuhara Miho - also very powerful and has more of a R&B/gospel flavor Ayaka - I dunno. There's just something I really like about the sound of her voice Nakashima Mika - Also like the sound of her voice When I say I like their voice, I'm referring more to the sound of their voice, not necessarily the songs they are singing. To me, they're very pleasing to the ears. Maybe one day I'll be able to sing like them MISIA: Kokoro Hitotsu ("One Heart") Everything FUKUHARA MIHO: Change http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdCbcQdVvms http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ4hUg5Ieu0&feature=related (LIVE version) Love Winter Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvGxai37zJM AYAKA Power of Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3qj_gTHh3c NAKASHIMA MIKA Focus Orion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqGnHSZmlxQ
Members staticsound
For me the obvious would be Chris Cornell. I'm not to hip on the newer stuff out there, but I always liked Fiona Apple. Just the right amount of smokey blues without "oversouling".
Members theminpoes
Stevie Wonder. He's probably one of my biggest influences as a singer. And +1 on Chris Cornell. He's one of the greatest rock singers ever, IMO. I also love Jonny Lang's voice. It's super powerful and also very soulful. [video=youtube;DayCrQWJXuI] And Michael Mcdonald. I don't know why, but I never hear people talk about his voice. He's one of my favourites![video=youtube;jsP0f5IPIOU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsP0f5IPIOU Song starts at about 1:
Members NeverTheMachine
The one's who make/made me go: "how did they just do that?" Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley, Bowie, Otis Redding, Robert Plant, Michael Jackson, Dave Ruffin, Marvin Gaye, Freddie Mercury, Thom Yorke ..... no particular order, but the first two blow me away the most, and probably always will. Members beach1
Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Also, Marina & The Diamonds' voice and singing blow me away. Her voice/singing sounds so incredibly beautiful, haunting, and interesting. [video=youtube;FCVOENZZlFw] [video=youtube;cIdae07HFsI]

Members MarkofCainband
Dax Riggs. Dude has the best voice I've ever heard. He is the only musician I've gotten close to being a "fanboy" of... My absolute favorite song of his: Endsmouth from when he was in Agents of Oblivion[video=youtube;b1YXA7tqGvU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1YXA7tqGvU&feature=related Ghost Movement[video=youtube;OGurlZz0w90] An amazing rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.[video=youtube;k4PG6hTqEgU] Past that, I've always been more into singers who aren't really considered great singers. Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Neil Young, stuff like that.

Members PollyGoPop
Jeff Buckley is a definite - when you listen to any of his tracks you come away with that 'how did he physically, actually just do that?!' blown-away feeling! I love Joanna Newsome too... there's a clip of her performing 'Book of Right-On' on Jools Holland that's just incredible. She has SUCH an interesting, strange voice and songwriting ability you can't help but stop whatever you're doing and listen to her. Also, I know she's a mainstream bore but Christina Aguilera's tone, control and power are a force of nature! As much as I'd love to write her off as chart-tripe, she is one of the most accomplished singers of our generation.

Members Masklin
Freddie Mercury has some vocal moments which are nothing short of godlike. So does Robert Plant, but not as often. Roger Daltrey I like, too. EDIT: I forgot about Peter Gabriel... I'm a douche.
