Members roryfan
Have been experimenting with homemade amp and a tie clip mic to amplify harmonica. Sounds OK, loud enough and satisfactory tone but it really emphasises the breathing noises. Is this just technique, mic placement etc., or do I just have the wrong type of mic? Amp is loosely based on a Pignose http://www.flickr.com/photos/37071329@N02/4587140073/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/37071329@N02/4587764402/
Members sunburstbasser
Try experimenting with mic placement first, as it's the easiest thing to check. Have you practiced with a full band? Sometimes, the band will cover up the breathing sounds.
Members dparr
As you get better on the harmoninca the "breathing noises" will become much less noticeable.

Members roryfan
DAMN that's the hannibal lecter of amps! eh... thanks. It can make quite a noise when driven by a harmonica or indeed a guitar. It's based around one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/7w-mono-audio-amplifier-module-32209
