By Request... OJer's, post your music here!

    Hi!

    I'd like a sticky.

    That's right, a sticky.

    I'm new here.

I've noticed more than a few threads in which OJers are posting their music lately. wert's been on a roll, rideaway posted one recently. mikeos always good for a new tune....

You can start it if you like, but a sticky place to deposit our music might be cool for a while.

After all, this IS a musician's... uh....

    Wait...

Am I in the wrong forum?

...a sticky thread for posting tunes....??

    in OJ????

    what was I thinking?

I'm no pro, just a hobbyist, but I'll play.
I wrote both of these, play all the instruments and recorded them on my desktop running Debian Linux.

yes, theres only 4 notes on the thing but a universe of overtones and textures... ive got a wooden one that gets polyphonic... allows chords and distortions... a lot of didg sounds are possible... i love the thing!

Thank you for the kind words.

I thought I was using pitch correction, I'm using Reaper and it has a "tuning" plug in included. Doesn't seem to make much difference, but honestly I don't know how to set the various parameters. It's all multi-tracked, I can't sing and play guitar at the same time, at least not good enough for recording. I've been playing guitar for 30+ years, but have only attempted to sing the last couple of years. Even though my vocals aren't perfect, I really enjoy listening to it. (hence the 'musical narcissism' post)

My version of "It's all Over..." is really a copy of / "love letter" to the version done by the Thirteenth Floor Elevators, with Roky Erickson on vocals. So I'm trying to somewhat "ape" Roky's vocals, and well, that's how it turned out. The arrangement is also the same as the Elevators' - there's only 3 verses instead of 4, and some of the lyric's lines were re-arranged. It was a widely-covered song in the 1960s. There are versions by the Stones, the Zombies, the Animals, Van Morrison and so on.

The first time I heard the Elevators' version (a friend gave me a 'psychedelic mixtape' on cassette) I was at a low point in my life and this song really resonated with me in a personal way.

Vocals not too bad, at least you're flat in a few places not sharp. I've found it easier to raise pitch than to correct a singer always sharp.
Use pitch correction I know I'd rather my guitar be slightly flat easier to bend up than down, my voice too.
    You're almost there.
Did you track vocals and play guitar same time?
