  • New turntable day!!!

So while I was on my month's forced sabatical I picked up this very, very nice Pioneer PL-A35 turntable...belt drive made between 1971-1973. This one is in pretty much mint shape considering it's age. Once I got it I opened it up...oiled it in all the oil ports and greased all pivot points. It runs perfectly...checked the speed and it's dead on! Cosmetically I doubt you could fine one much nice than this one! I'm good for turntables for quite a while!!!

Very cool! What are you using for a cartridge and phono pre-amp? MM or MC?

Happy New Turntable Day. I love the looks of the base. I currently have an old Dual belt drive but I don't use it much.

Thats a solid performer. Nice taught bass, pretty detailed sound with the right cartridge...somewhat lacking in midrange bloom and a slight sibilance in the highs, but overall has a nice nuance especially for rock and pop.

Shouldn't this be in the Political Forum with all your other off-topic posts?

Yeah, my comment was not Kosher, but you've already quoted it. Sorry.

I'm annoyed that the HCPP has strict rules for threads and commenting (the old "link or retract" business), but then allows people to post off-topic threads. It seems inconsistent to me, maybe there's not a rule against it, but as an HCPP 'outsider' it looks like some forum members get to bend the rules.

I'll stop digging that hole now...

My turntable is easy enough to get to, but my LPs are buried beneath piles of books, DVDs and cds.

Mine are in the attic stored in upright in huge Rubbermaid totes. They used to be in alphabetical order until my wife decided to put them in the totes. There are 1000's of them.

The CD collection is way bigger, an once again my wife moved them from boxes to Rubbermaid totes.
