  • Orionids this weekend!!111!!

    It's usually a good one.

But the moon will be a bit of a pain.
The Orionid meteor shower should be visible Friday and Saturday nights, but the best views are expected to be Sunday morning after the moon has set but before the sun rises.

Might catch a few after Saturday's gig.

The weather should be clear enough here, the moon will be a problem, though.

In the past, Orionids have been some of the most spectacular I've seen.

When I was 7, 8, that's what the sky looked like. I couldn't make out a constellation period. Now all I see is the old standards. Dippers, Orion etc....

As it happens I am going to a bonfire out in the country far from cities tomorrow night, so
                      I will have high expectations.

                            Astronomy is a blast.

The more money you spend the better it is.

Kind of like wife's, race cars, boats, and airplanes.

More fun when owned and paid by others.

You can get a nice portable set up for not a huge chunk of $$$.

an 8", maybe 10" is all you are going to want to pick up a physical move.
Most of the home use ones will have a Star Guide GPS, which is really awesome for newbies.

You're paying for the quality of optics, so size doesn't matter much.

A lot of peeps think they want to do photography with there telescope, which is a whole different game.

Schmidt-Cassegrain are nice and don't take up a lot of space.

Celestron and Meade are the ones to look at.

You can build or buy a Dobson kit too.

Hemerroids flying in the night sky. Yes, that would be something to see.
