            defintely so.. Nabors had a beautiful album and one of my favorites was his version of "On a Clear Day" -Stunning projection and a deep powerful voice with a lot of feeling and emotion.

                The reference was to Gomer Pyle the character, not Jim Nabors the actor. But yes, Nabors was gay in an era when it was even less acceptable than it is today and he deflected by playing comic roles.
