  • Shriek!

A recent topic in this group came up regarding over-used words and this is one of them. Except that it has not been used much recently since the past election. It was definitely in vogue for the preceding eight years and was a somewhat standard response for some users when seeing opinions contrary to their own.

While I have always made an effort to keep up with hip terminology I still wonder why this has fallen into disfavor, for it is still as appropriate as it ever was. Once upon a time things were good. Then they became BAD. After that they were RAD. In reality, both terms became passe and it would be as appropriate to say they are BEIBER as any other euphemism.

This idea is of course 'far out, man'. It is hackneyed and does nothing to show the progress of our society any more than Wide Ties making a comeback, or not.

I served my sentence, watched from the sidelines and the game remains the same as it ever was. Having said that, I guess I am done 'shrieking' for the moment.

I remember used car sales. Now they are pre-owned savings events.

The terms, they are a changin'.

Part of it might be that so many of the shriekers are currently banned.

              Or were until recently.

              So we shall see.
