  • And the 2020 presidential race has begun!

Yes folks. We already have our first officially announced candidate.

Democratic US Rep. John Delaney of Maryland.

Is there any chance the Republicans will choose Donald Trump as their candidate?

Depends on who decides to challenge him, but it seems a pretty fair bet he'd be "primaried"

Historical fun fact: no sitting prez has been denied the nomination since Chester Arthur. And it's only once happened to an elected sitting Prez: Franklin Pierce.

Didn't Two Scoops form his reelection committee as soon as he took office?

No one cares what Trump does.

Yeah, well, I thought that, too, about 18 months ago. A lot of us never thought that was any rational way he could get the nomination, much less with the election.

I'll stand by that belief though, as no sane person could call this outcome "rational".

I'm still standing by the belief that he barely won with a great deal of support from those willing to take a chance on him, for various reasons, who would never make the same mistake twice. That his true, hardcore support is nowhere near close enough to elect him all on their own.

Whether that will translate to the Pubs standing up to him enough to deny him the nomination? I sure hope so.

Unless Trump does some amazing things between now and 2020 (if he makes it even to the two year mark), him running for a second term will guarantee a democrat president.

While I certainly hope that you are correct, I can't help but remember trump doing about a dozen while running for his first term that should have guaranteed a Democratic President.

That's because he doesn't do anything except play golf and keep the whitehouse chef busy preparing his prime rib and raspberry torte.

                    Is it his turn?

Current global warming temperature trend: 0.05ºC per decade, plus or minus 0.1ºC (source: UN IPCC AR5) ...Yes, the error rate is higher than the estimated rate of change.

"Anthropogenic global warming is a proposed theory whose basic mechanism is well understood, but whose magnitude is highly uncertain. The growing evidence that climate models are too sensitive to CO2 has implications for the attribution of late-20th-century warming and projections of 21st-century climate. If the recent warming hiatus is caused by natural variability, then this raises the question as to what extent the warming between 1975 and 2000 can also be explained by natural climate variability." --Dr. Judith Curry, chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology

That's not a fight I would bet on, since it would most likely be fixed.

Bernie's too old. Dems I think would be good choices:
                          Elizabeth Warren
                          Cory Booker
                          Al Franken
                          Jon Tester
