Members randyellefson
I wrote a blog on this and wondered what others thought. Can anyone new make a name for themselves without playing a million notes per second?
Moderators daddymack Posted May 13, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 13, 2013 Aside from the ones mentioned in your blog, there are still others who manage to maintain af following, label support and eat three squares a day...although arguably considered more fusion than rock, there are guys like Jeff Beck, Alan Holdsworth, John McLauglin, Al Di Meola...but there is more to it than just playing guitar: you need good material, you need great production...and backing. So to be an 'upstart' in the modern world where no one makes money except the 'big names', then the answer to the basic question is no....unless you get lucky, nail a viral video or marry a movie star...
