Members sabriel9v
I've seen a lot of artists selling cd-rs on myspace and it's all a part of this lo-fi movement that has been going on the past few months. I wonder how smart that is though...wouldn't they be better off just using amazon or itunes to sell their 3-6 song eps in a digital format? How could you keep track of cd-rs? *This is not a direct criticism either, I'm sorta thinking out loud on this one
Moderators daddymack Posted December 3, 2009 Moderators Share Posted December 3, 2009 when you say 'keep track of', do mean numbers sold, or what? I would think, if you are moving 'hard copies', you would have shipping records, etc.

I believe you are mistaken. Black Metal has been around for a decade and a half now

Members Poker99
Yeah, I mean numbers sold. Who cares? Most of them won't even sell 200 copies.

Not true... there are artists that have move almost a million units out of their trunk the biggest name I can think of is ludacris who sold about 50K from his car while a Dj in college Yeah keep a record of how many CD's you had made, minus any given away as promos when the CD's are gone you sold that many units EDIT: The 6 got in there as a mistake I meant 50K

Members DeuceyBaby
(citation needed) read it on billboard a couple years ago i dunno I think a simple google search is all one can do at this point hes talked about it several times in his lyrics before though The 6 got in there as a mistake; I meant 50K. Must have pressed the 6 when pressing the 5. album is called incognegro

Must have pressed the 6 when pressing the 5. album is called incognegro 50k is much more reasonable than 650k, that's for sure. The physical logistics of selling 650k out of your car, even over 4 years, would be questionable, at best
Members Blackwatch
I remember reading that country singer Pat Green sold 300,000 CD's without a label. Even conservative estimates puts that at over a million dollars. That's a big trunk.....

Well, there's a potentially big difference between "selling without a label" and literally "selling out of your trunk".
