Even though I'm far from being a young pup in this game I've been thinking about something an even older old timer told me a short while back 'cause it keeps me chuckling. As my wife and I were leaving a jam session we occasionally attend he said to me.........jokingly.......or not perhaps........., "never buy an amp bigger than your wife can carry".

When I was 21, I got hired by these old country guys to play leads and fills and wear a cowboy hat. So I played with them for about a month, and one night on break we were sitting around and the bass player said "son you play pretty good. How often do you practice?" I said, "oh, since I play 3 nights a week, I don't practice much. I practice at the gig." He laughed and said, "well, just remember, son, your guitar is like your woman. You can't ignore it all week and expect it to put out on the weekend."
