Pedal with GPS

Interesting, for sure, and certainly useful. I'd be curious how successful smart phone finders are in recovering lost/stolen hear.

But then there's the weird, somewhat paranoid part of me that doesn't love my every movement tracked

I'm not that interesting, but I still find it unnerving when my smart phone sends me unsolicited traffic information in the morning for appointments I never told it I had (based on travel history, I assume).

Of course, I suppose as soon as tracking chips become standard thieves will know to pull them.

From the article:

Musicians can track the GPS-enabled pedal on Google Maps, where a pin will drop within 3 meters of where the pedal is located.

3 meters (about 10 feet) seems a reasonable proximity and would limit the search area. Of course, I've lost plenty of stuff that I knew was within 10 feet so there's that too. ;)
