Members amateur_rocker
I'm kinda new to guitar playing and i'm trying to find the sound I want. I use a Marshall DSL100 head. Can someone tell me if it would make a difference to my sound if i got a JMP or similar pre-amp? I dont really understand rack equipment! Members SteveVHT
You will have alot more versatility with a rack like a JMP1. Make sure that you get a good tube power amp also. You can pretty much nail any sound from any Marshall head with a JMP1Steve
Members dmk
i'd disagree.while they do sound good, they cant cover all marshall sounds.i couldnt get anything like what i get out of my 6100 out of a jmp1.that said, the 6100's are meant to be more boogie sounding...hmm.if you like the sound of your tsl, then i guess you'll like the sound of the jmp1.but yeah, the poweramp plays a big role too. Members Vic Rattlehead
My Jmp-1 and Mesa Boogie 50/50 poweramp is the best sounding setup I've played on. I can't say it beats every Marshall product ever like I'd like to because I havn't tried many of the higher quality amps they make, but it easily beats the JCM2000 series. Members mrhiwatt
I also use a Voodoo modded JMP-1 and it covers the Marshall sounds guite well and is very versitale. I use a Boss Gt-8 for effects and Boggie tones. I'm using a Marshall el34 50/50 power amp into 1960a stereo 4x12. It will do anything the JCM2000 series can do and more. Members BillW
I would agree to a point: I don't really care for the cleans on the JMP-1.IMO, the TSL and to some degree the DSL have excellent cleans for a Marshall - and I thinkd you'd have trouble 'nailing' that with a JMP-! - other than that, though I'd say it'd work pretty well.
