Members Cougar Hunter
SS power amps are usually not the way to go. that said, a mackie 1400i with a triaxis is {censored}ing brutal and loud. good SS power amps that are loud enough: rocktron velocity 250Rocktron Velocity 300Marshall valvestate pro 120/120maybe the tubes works amps? Members starsnuffer
Solid state poweramps are usually built to be pretty transparent, with the exception of the ones that try to sound like tube amps. Tube poweramps will color your sound and will generally saturate a lot or a little (depending on the design and tubes) at high volumes. Most people like some sort of tube coloration in the power section. A solid state poweramp will generally make your rig sound like your preamp, only louder. If you like that sound, then go for it. -W
Members slayericed
the sound that i am going for will be modern hi-gain, edgy, lots of crunch, palm-mutes that would push u to the wall. As i said like on older Meshuggah stuff:) I am not really fond of AC/DCish type warm brit over-drive tone. hope this makes sense
Members HERC
I use a QSC 850 RMX.....Plenty of power and mosfet. A/B'd with my VHT 2/90/2, I really can't tell the difference...

Members Elric
Given what you are going for, using a good SS Power amp should meet your needs, no problem, IMHO. I'd probably still go with one that was voiced for guitar rather than 100% flat/PA style, though, just on principle. A Rocktron Velocity, MosValve Series, ADA Microtube, or Marshall VS would all have potential for such a rig.

Members slayericed
one more thing i had my eyes set on the engl 570, but some people are of the view that it does not have a fat crunchy sound, remember that i need the preamp primarily for good metal crunch tones ur views, recomendations?
