Boss GX-700 in the effects loop?

I just got a Boss GX-700. It's pretty bitchin', especially the analog distortion circuits, but the digital preamp simulations (well, the Fender and Matchless sims, anyway) are kinda lame. I would like to use my Boss GL-100, which has a very tubey clean, as a preamp. Can I use the GX-700 in the GL-100's effects loop?

Alternately, could I put the GL-100 in the GX-700's effects loop, which can be assigned to any order in the signal processing chain, so that I could put compression, wah, and/or fuzz in front of the GL-100? I just want to keep things completely analog between the guitar and the preamp circuits so I don't run into nasty digital distortion anywhere.

BTW, if it helps, the GL-100's FX send has an impedance of >10k? and its FX return has an impedance of 47k?. The impedances on the GX-700 are 1M? on the input, 3k? on the output, 2k? on the FX send, and 450k? on the FX return.
