Hi

I have been offered a Soldano X88R Preamp from a friend of a friend.

Haven't had a chance to try it out , but from what I have read there pretty good.

With the idea of keeping a smaller light weight rack.

Im wondering if ther is a one/two space solid state Power Amp

that would sound good with the Soldano X88R ?

One other thing , are there any sound clips of the unit around ?

I can't seem to find any good clips .

Thanks

the x88r rocks! i'm planning on building a clone of it, once i get into knowing this whole amp-building thing a little better :) I tried it once with a VHT 2150 and an engl cab - sounded absolutely awesome!!

i'd go with a tube slave for it - ss is a shame with such a fine preamp ;)

Hey,

I was surprised how well my Marshall 8008 (bought for now defunct WDW rig) sounded when I killed off the centre cab with a Hotplate(load),and mixed the dry signal in with the wet cabinets.

Plenty of power(80 RMS a side,at least as loud as a 50watt head),reasonably warm(especially for SS)and the option to use only one side for lower volume.

TBH,after warming to a 76 JMP 2204 bought 12 months ago-and not wanting to smash an effects loop into it for sentimental reasons-considering loading it down(via the HP) and combining it with the Egnator IE4 I have,if indeed the Egnator sounds ok with it.

An 8008 is worth a try, just my opinion.

Chris.....
