Expect some real cool grind tones and some decent, gainey and liquid lead tones. However, don't expect much from it in the way of mild break up or clean - this is not the preamp's strong point!

This really depends on the power amp too. I can get crystal clear cleans. I'm guessing because of the KT88s-6l6 mix in my amp. I couldn't with my old 2:90 though.

It's not so much that you can't get these tones (i.e., clean and mild crunch), it's just that they are not overly inspiring - somewhat lifeless.

I run my JMP-1 with a Marshall 9200, so headroom is not an issue. The clean tone has just never blown me away.....it's decent, but it ain't gonna win any medals!

I get pretty decent cleans with my JMP-1 & Marshall EL-34 50/50. I think that it is the EL-34's instead of the 6L6's. I used to have a 9200 and could never find any clean sounds I liked. I would like to get a 9100 to mix, blend, and switch in and out with my EL-34 50/50.
