Members rlord1974
Expect some real cool grind tones and some decent, gainey and liquid lead tones. However, don't expect much from it in the way of mild break up or clean - this is not the preamp's strong point!

However, don't expect much from it in the way of mild break up or clean - this is not the preamp's strong point! This really depends on the power amp too. I can get crystal clear cleans. I'm guessing because of the KT88s-6l6 mix in my amp. I couldn't with my old 2:90 though.
Members rlord1974
It's not so much that you can't get these tones (i.e., clean and mild crunch), it's just that they are not overly inspiring - somewhat lifeless. I run my JMP-1 with a Marshall 9200, so headroom is not an issue. The clean tone has just never blown me away.....it's decent, but it ain't gonna win any medals! Members Jvod
I get pretty decent cleans with my JMP-1 & Marshall EL-34 50/50. I think that it is the EL-34's instead of the 6L6's. I used to have a 9200 and could never find any clean sounds I liked. I would like to get a 9100 to mix, blend, and switch in and out with my EL-34 50/50.
