Flying with your Rack: To Shock Mount or Not To Shock Mount?

Hi guys,

In this other thread I asked what people's preferences were in terms of checking gear on flights.

Several people there suggest that the shock mounted ATA cases (e.g., SKB shock mounted rack cases) are too heavy and just don't provide any extra protection. I somehow find the latter a bit hard to believe... how do you guys fly your rack gear?

 

Any advice would be appreciated
