Members wesg
I know nothing at all about lights, except that I need some.Well, a bit more than nothing, since I read that big long PDF "guide for n00bs" a couple of weeks ago that one of you so kindly wrote.Anyhow, here's my stupid question. I have read about guys attaching lights to speaker stands. How is this normally done? Do you just screw into the unused flying hardware on the top of the speaker? I'm thinking it might be an idea to get a couple of par cans with coloured gels, one on each side of the stage while I save up for a real system. The thinking being that "two lights are bound to be much better than none". So, what do I need to bring a couple of cans (e.g. PAR-46s) to the stage? My FOH is NX55Ps on heavy duty poles. Thanks,Wes
Members StratGuy22
That's exactly what I do. Make sure the brackets don't heat up with the light...
Members wesg
Huh! Well I guess that settles it! Are hot brackets normally a problem with old-school lights? I could potentially isolate them from the speakers a bit if I had to by using longer bolts and spacer tube. I guess another option would be to hang the lights beside the speakers and connect the two with some angle iron.
Members StratGuy22
To be honest I don't know. The lights I had, before my LED rig were um, home made. -facepalm-
Members BillESC
You'll want Par 38's, not Par 46's. The 38's can be lamped with 75 or 90 watt halogen floods and will not excessively make the yokes hot.You can expect to pay$ 30 to $ 35 for the fixtures with lamps. Members StratGuy22
So it's attached to two fly points? Nice. I was planning on mounting a pole cup on the top of mine but this looks pretty good. And I can get a pair of these whipped up at work in about 10 minutes.
