Amp for Tannoy System 800

Hi all,

 

I'm new here, you guys all look like the type of people who could help me with my little problem, so i thought i'd join your forum

 

I'm Chris, and i'm a student in Liverpool, UK, studying for a degree in Sound Technology.

 

I've just bought a pair of Tannoy System 800 speakers, the passive version, to use for monitoring at home. I'm setting about to correct various room modes as i live in a big echoey Georgian terrace, so that's a work in progress.

 

The problem I have is that I don't really have a suitable amp to drive the tannoys, at the moment using my dad's old NAD 3020, which although a nice amp, i can't help feeling is a little too coloured for accurate speakers like the tannoys.

 

I also have an old dead Quad 303, which I reckon if i put my mind to it, could be fixed.

 

Can anyone reccomend anything suitable for these speakers?
