Members Bob O'Brian
HiI need to add a bit more oomph to our PA and have no money, more or less. Was looking at these dirt cheap speakers from Maplin (
Members KPAudio
I'm sorry but I cant offer any input on these speakers. But on paper they look to be pretty bad. 300w max isn't going to get you far. And they have pretty bad efficiency. If you're UPgrading to this I'd hate to see what you are upgrading from. Members Bob O'Brian
Yeah I know that 95dB is quite poor. The PA we're using only puts out 100w per side into 8 Ohms, and at the moment we have it running a pair of Peavey Eurosys cabs. I was thinking that a second pair of cabs would allow us to put out 200w per side at 4 Ohms (the amp is capable of it).Hmmm maybe I should save my money and get a second pair of Peaveys? Members ashivraj
I haven't used them personally, but as a rule I stay away from any of Maplin's 'PA' stuff. It's usually low-end DJ gear. It's there in the speaker description - 'With its 300Wmax output this speaker is ideal for small discos, a starting point for budding young DJs or even as a high power hi-fi speaker.' IMO save up and get something half-decent. Have a look on eBay too! AS
