Members kwoodcox85
All you guys using an active system do you run ALL the power leads from the speakers/mixer/etc thru a power conditioner and into 1 out let or what?
Members dboomer
I wouldn't use a power conditioner but I would try to get all the AC from the same service.
Members agedhorse
Who uses a power conditioner? They are totally unnecessary for powered speakers or any power amplifier for that matter.
Members jwlussow
No power conditioner here. We run all FOH speakers on one circuit and racks on another. We have also been able to run the whole system on one circuit when needed.

CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted February 8, 2010 CMS Author Share Posted February 8, 2010 Just out of curiosity, whats wrong with power conditioners? I see it a lot, but have never heard/read the reasoning. Mostly, they do nothing you need. Your gear has noise filtering already, there's no power regulation, and the surge suppressors are typically MOV's that blow out in one surge, usually with no indication that they have so you don't know you're no longer protected....but on occasion will fail spectacularly...catching fire inside the unit. Money better spent on good receptacles in a solid box with or without a decent power switch. That's another common weakness....power switches that can fail at just the wrong time. Members agedhorse
Additional impedance to the power source, 15 amp breakering, and master power switches not protected against inductive current inrushes or turn-off spikes like the power switches on the amps. Members Lou Lombardi
I mainly use one in my rack just to have a place to plug everything in... I notice no difference in performance when I plug into other sources.
