and it was scary as hell.

i've had vehicles with factory access panels for fuel pumps butt he astro van has none.

i added one.

it scared the heck and bejeezus outta me doing it. after i was halfway through i wished i had not started. no one around me really understands why i was scared to do this but if you look at those fule lines right under the floor you can use your imagination.

this van has a plywood subfloor and i am replacing it. the floor is out and i have new wood for it. i will be racking the sides and the floor will never come out again so i am thinking of sealing it as the existing floor is badly water damaged. i needed to pu this hole here now or never so i manned up and did it.

dropping the tank is a son of a B on these vans and i dont want to do that is february when it is 30 below zero

Indeed outdoor vehicle maintenance in Fargo in the winter is brutal!

I remember being on the road and working up there in Fargo/Moorehead in the winter, and

it snowed sideways, and 30 below was the norm.

Making sure the vehicle is running great and ready for the artic blast is survival tactics!

Wonderful folks up there though.   Very good times in ND.

What tool did you use to cut the hole? I'm a big fan of a circular saw with an abrasive blade, partially because you can set the saw depth pretty shallow and then go deeper if you need to.

Flying sparks from abrasive tools, though. Still not what I'd want around potentially leaky gasoline lines!
