Members Audiopile
I'm looking for recommendations for an amplifier to drive a buttkicker. My preference is a 1U rack mountable amp. Mono is fine, light weight (should be under 10 lbs.) and 2 ohm stable, 50 watts @ 8 ohms is fine, and relatively "low priced" (hopefully under $500). No DSP... just need a volume knob and on/off switch. Either XLR and/or unbalanced 1/4" input is fine... an instrument amp would work fine. I'd prefer a Speakon speaker output. Members abzurd
1U and 2 ohm stable limits your options, especially in an inexpensive amp. That said, there's the Art SLA-2 http://artproaudio.com/downloads/specsheets/ss_sla2.pdf $369 (MAP) - NEW - http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SLA2 $332 - DEMO AT SWEETWATER W/ WARRANTY - http://www.sweetwater.com/store/deta...ulGBoC2wLw_wcB $250 - OPEN BOX (probably no warranty) - http://www.proaudiostar.com/art-sla2-power-amp.html $260 Ebay or $286 w/ 2 yr "square trade" warranty. - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Art-SLA-2-2-Channel-Power-Amplifier-200W-RMS-/282235314971?hash=item41b689231b:g:xf4AAOSw4shX6pD2
Members Dogoth
I'd agree with abzurd. Single rack space, low price & 2 ohm stable would be a difficult find. The Powersoft K2 far exceeds your specifications except price OUCH! http://www.powersoft-audio.com/en/docman/8-k2-datasheet/file Great amps though . FWIW I don't see that the ART amplifier can drive a 2 ohm load. If you're buttkicker is spec'd as such you might have to go to a bigger (yet priced right) amp such as : Peavey IPR http://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Peavey/IPR-1600-Power-Amp-112291815.gc?cntry=us&source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=CJr01aK3_s8CFYWAaQody00GLw&kwid=productads-adid^66736785762-device^c-plaid^134292308202-sku^112291815@ADL4GC-adType^PLA

Members Audiopile
I'd agree with abzurd. Single rack space, low price & 2 ohm stable would be a difficult find. If you're buttkicker is spec'd as such you might have to go to a bigger (yet priced right) amp such as : Peavey IPR Yes, the Buttkicker is rated 2 ohms... really wish it was 4 ohms, but it is what it is. I kind-of figured 1U & 2ohms & light weight & "reasonably priced" (cheap) might be a rare combination. I have a spare IPR-1600 sitting on a shelf, and that's what I figured on using, except I have 1U of spare space in my existing rack, and I'd have to up-size the rack 2U to fit an additional 1U of space to accommodate the IPR-1600. no biggie... I think I can come up with a 2U taller rack easier than a 1U x 2ohm stable amp. Probably be just as well to use the IPR-1600 as that would give me some possibly very useful amplifier redundancy in that system.
Members abzurd
Hey Mark.... Again, the Art amp is 2 ohm stable. It's, at least, 280W, which you'll want as the Unless you have some other version, the ButtKicker manual says 400W is the minimum recommended wattage so not sure where your 50W requirement comes from. As a bonus, you get a spare amp channel "just in case". Incidentally, in looking at the manual, I just learned the company, Guitammer Company Inc, is located 2 suburbs over (Westerville, OH). I had no idea.
Members soulx
I know I bumping an older thread but the Samson MXS2800 fits all the requirements, 1u, 2 ohm rated, 11 lbs, sub $500.
Members wesg
How about the ButtKicker BKA 130C? It's only $130. http://www.parts-express.com/buttkicker-bka-130-c-90w-mini-transducer-power-amplifier-with-wired-remote--300-9420
