Stiffer gooseneck flex shafts?

This time of year I'm involved in many school graduation ceremonies as I'm sure many of you are. For my podium mic set up, I've been forced to use a standard stand as my goosenecks can't handle the weight of a wireless. I would much prefer to use a podium clamp and gooseneck as there is considerable space savings on what are often cramped stages. I know there are short booms that can be used but goosenecks are simply easier for the presenters to manipulate. Any sources for heavy duty goosenecks that don't flex so easily ? Perhaps a way to mod my existing goosenecks ?

Viagra?

my go to for these in past has been Atlas, but if memory serves, there's seem to hold for awhile, but eventually end up weak, like the rest of them.

Were I looking now, I'd contact these guys. They probably have more of a handle on defining rigidity and would probably have a better recommendation for your application.

(That was a lot of research for a really dumb Viagra joke BTW,)

Have done the wrapped coat hanger routine and it works well but becomes ineffective after about a year (use in a convention center weekly or so). If you can leave enough hanging out the base (female) end, you can use needle nose pliers to remove and repair again. It IS a good fix.
