Yorkville LS801p measurements

Had a day off so I did some measurements. Some say these subs boom too much so I wanted to see if something came up in the response.

I will post a few replies so wait until my wrap up should you have a question.

First pictures are the setup and settings on the back of sub. Tops to be used are EF500p. I use their built in 100 hz cut. The subs are center clustered for the most part so I have them go up to 120hz ( 6db down point ) to help fill in.

The response is just as it should be with the spec's supplied by yorkville. 6db's down at 45 hz and a flat response through the subs range.

Next I moved the shape knob to Deep. This gave a 6db boost centered around 50hz. I found at 12 o'clock it still had a 3db boost. So Loud on the Shape setting has the sub working flat. Maybe this is the boom some talk about?

Last I added a cut with my parametric on my yamaha 01v96. Q of 6.3 and a 5.5 db cut. This gave the sub a 6db down point of 38 hz and it sounded solid and deep. A flat predictable response. I'd watch the loud setting on the shape knob as it adds a lot of energy at 50 or so!

Neat! That's great information. Yorkville doesn't tend to document exactly what some of their knobs do - see the recent NX10C thread.

I'm guessing your mixer has an RTA of some kind built-in? That must be handy as heck.
