Members Tomm Williams
Though I like my AKG 391's a great deal, buying the supercardioid capsules at $200 each is a bit more than I really want to spend. Can anyone recommend a good sub $200 supercardioid SDC ?
Members Pro Sound Guy
I have always had great bang for the buck with Audio Technica condensors. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Pro37 They make great LDC's also.
Members phsycobass
I've had really good luck with the sennheiser e614. Tons of gain before feedback and they sound pretty good. Only slightly outside your budget..
Members Dogoth
Oktava 012 with a supercardioid capsule. They can be had for well under $200 used if you look around. Also Michael Joly has some simple electronic only mods for these mics (that make them sound absolutely stunning) that won't break the bank. FWIW I use a couple of E614's as HH & Drum OH in our new venue. Not bad but IMO not great either. Good rejection but they seem to have a very hyped top end. I way prefer SM81's (not supercardioid though) or the aforementioned Oktava's (both of which can be found used for under your budget).
Members mikekars
Are you looking for supercardioid specifically? I have a pair of Oktava 012 with cardioid capsules in excellent condition I am looking to trade for sm58's. Maybe 3 for 2?
