Members Dookietwo
Saw this going around the web and thought I would share here. I think outside on a windy day this would be the best way to set this up! DUH!!!
Members agedhorse
That's no better, the CG is still very high and the base area small.

Members wesg
You'd think the fact that JBL didn't put pole receivers in them would be a bloody clue. WOW that guy is crazy!!
Members abzurd
Neat idea to solve the "raise the mains high enough" problem. Not so good for the "not killing a little kid" problem you may end up with. Guessing those are JBL JRX. If so the double 15's are 94 lbs. The sub is 71 lbs. The sub is 24", the speaker stand is probably 44" or so and the top box is another 43". That's over 9 feet! YIKES! This is just one reason I don't care for double 15's. They just don't lend themselves to versatility. You need a stout subwoofer set up to get them high enough when floor stacked plus strapping. And it takes 2 people to do anything. Plus the cheaper ones sound like poo.

Members Dookietwo
I was thinking it may be better to put a 2 foot by 4 foot sheet of plywood on top of the tripod feet. Then put 2 mains on top. Splay them out some. That would give more even coverage!
Members Pro Sound Guy
What makes that guy think the strap is gonna hold that box in place if someone hits it?
Members Vito Corleone
Well, you gotta give him points for ingenuity, if nothing else. Although it remains hard to understand why he thought it would have been so bad to put the top speaker on the stand the right way and set it NEXT to the sub. Unless, of course, the pole is too big for the hole. Which, considering it's a JBL, it very well could be.....
Members wesg
Those speakers do not have pole holes at all.
Members Shaster
If he's using those boxes, he can't be too worried about the sound, so why not just put the boxes on the sub and let the chips fall where they may. Better yet, put the sub on what looks to be the stage, then the boxes on top of the subs - it would almost be the same height as the leaning tower of JBL, but probably subject to two or three million dollars less liability. Members Vito Corleone
Those speakers do not have pole holes at all. Well, there you go. That explains it. Are the straps tight enough to keep the speaker from falling off if bumped into by some idiot drunk? I guess you'd have to have a few and find out for yourself.
