Members Shaster
Wes was not a member of this forum but he was a very gifted solo performer, that I've mentioned before. Wes was a friend and mentor to me, and he often threw work my way when he couldn't do a gig. He was still very much active, even in his mid seventies, and basically "died in the saddle". He wasn't feeling all that well this past Valentine's day, but he had a gig, and never missed a show. finished the night with What A Wonderful world, apparently to great applause, and then died a short time later. A musician, literally to the end. Check out the calendar on his site (note that he didn't list his "little" gigs). For those of us a little or a lot younger, it gives hope that we can be playing for years to come, if we apply and promote ourselves effectively. He was also one of the few solo performers who could easily scale up to a duo or trio, because he played the bass foot pedals, would just add drums or a solo instrument. Rest in peace Wes. https://www.wesmackey.com/
Moderators daddymack Posted February 19, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 19, 2019 It is hard losing mentors, and friends...but it beats the sadder alternative. I looked at the site...Obviously he had the 'old school' style, a sharp dressed man... RIP for Mr. Mackey...
