Members Josh S
Hi guys. I'm in a Floyd tribute band. Our keyboardist has a fine setup already, but at various times we need our backup guitarist to fill in some space with strings and/or organ. This is just while the actual keyboardist is playing piano, etc. So - the sounds don't have to be amazing, but should be at least decent. As well, the synth should be as small and cheap as possible, as we really don't need it to do anything else, and it has to stay out of the way mostly! Is this possible? If so, what are we looking for? Thanks!
Members Yoozer
A Korg X5 or X5D (same thing, more presets) would serve your requirements. Light-weight, too. Sounds sort of like this one: http://www.synthmania.com/n-364.htm so if those strings are good enough for you, that'd be the way to go . edit: define "cheap" as a number of dollars, the word means different things to different people. Members Josh S
Thanks guys - the X5 looks pretty good, although it still has far more options than I would need. Is there anything even more basic? By cheap, I mean about $400 or so.
Members Enigmatic
Korg X50 would be better choice than X5. (Not sure if they even make manufacture X5 anymore) I bought a new X50 for $480 from GC. Most GCs can give 20% discount on virtually anything...(you need to know the right people..). ( you could also look into the used synth market. Yamaha Mo6 or even a used Motif would be a good buy, but you will have to spend a little more than your budget.) Members gdh
the K2500r is now in your price range and it usually has the Orchestral rom in it, btw that (K series) had been good enough for the boyz on a few their 90's tours of duty.
