Members Bowe
I've been looking to get a keyboard for general use (gigging as well as just at home), for around the
Members tim gueguen
You're not likely to get much response here. Arranger keyboards like the GW8 aren't popular on this board.
Members Bowe
what would you recommend then? I just need a giggable keyboard, that sounds good (doesn't have to be the best) looking mostly for piano, strings, choir, good lead sounds, and perhaps some distorted guitar-esk "dirty" sounds ability to layer if possible too all the other stuff on the GW-8 i didn't really need, but i don't really know what its like to play live, and i'm not exactly going to put my trust in the demo vids by roland
Members The Audacity Works
i can find plenty about some of the other keyboards in that range, the x50, Juno-D, MM6 etc, I can't find anything on the GW-8.All three will give you better results than the GW-8. Members midi
If the key response is anything like the GW-7, stay away.
Members solomon8
Don't let the fact that it's an arranger put you off. It is a lot of keyboard for the money. The arranger function is great for composing or giving you ideas for compositions. I own both synths and arrangers. A keyboard is a keyboard. A good musician can make any board sound good. Members Bowe
I dont care that its an arranger, i just want to know if it sounds good, and how easy it is to use live the best "all-rounder" always seems to be the hardest to pick out

Members tim gueguen
If you don't need the arranger functions then why bother looking at it? Go for whichever of the others you think sounds best.
Members Bowe
because i don't know how it sounds compared to the others, or how its other features stack up theres no point ignoring it because it has something i don't need
Members The Piano Man
Look for a used Roland XP30. It kicks all of the others in the ass. The key action is decent and has aftertouch which none of the others have. If you must buy new, I would personally pick the X50, but I must say the action on that really sucks
Members solomon8
I think "The Piano Man" brought up a good option with the XP30. It should fit nicely in your price range and offer a lot of sounds for the money. It has received very good reviews.
Members zzzxtreme
I've tried GW7. Cheesy like Juno D. Search for used Trinity
