Members burningsg
I'm thinking of trading in some equipment at my local shop - probably either Guitar Center or Sam Ash - since I'm a guitarist I thought it best to ask here about what to ask... So far I think I'll go with my Korg X5DR and Yamaha RY20 Drum Machine. What do you suppose I should ask ??? SG I'll probably pick up either some Tech21 gear or the Tascam 4 track ... Members Nicky
it's not really what you should ask, but what they offer you, which is usually next to nothing-better off doing Craigslist or Ebay.
Members xmlguy
Figure out the price they would sell it for. 25% of that is what they'll offer you, take it or leave it. Trade without a middleman. Any deal you work out directly will be far better than selling to GC. However, buying used from GC is a good deal, and I've done that frequently. GC staff are pretty ignorant about real market values and the details of the used gear they have.
Members solomon8
Guitar Center normally goes on eBay and looks for what your equipment sold for in "Completed Auctions", then offers you about 60% of that. Like the other guy said, they give you "Peanuts".
