Add second synth engine

I saw a keyboardist who had a second synth, a Roland U220 connected to his Roland Juno-g. Tremendous horn patch. How did he do that? The Juno-g keyboard controlled both it's internal synth and the external synth. What combination of In/Out/Thru would accomplish this. I believe he also had a small mixer involved in the rig, blending a patch from the Juno g with a patch from the U220. Or maybe not.

All that needed was a single cable from the Juno-G's MIDI out to the U220 MIDI in. The reason the internal synth sounds too is that by default the MIDI Local setting is switched on; this means any notes from the keys go both to the internal synth and out of the MIDI port.

The mixer is pretty much a requirement and can be had for a few bucks; mucking with soldered cables and adapter plugs can go wrong too easily.
