Effects chain order

So! :cop:

Say that I, hypothetically, wanted to add tube preamp and delay to my Nord Electro 3. Would that mean the end of using the onboard reverb? I am neither a guitarist nor a stompboxfiddler, so I haven't messed around with effect chains much lately, but will the reverb become worse by being put before delay and tube preamp?

Thanks :thu:

most of the time people will put reverb at the end of their chain but it doesnt mean you have to. mess around a bit and see what sounds right to your ears

i also play guitar/bass/whatever and have quite a pedal collection. they usually sound "best" arranged in a certain order but sometimes i like to take it all apart and try hooking things up with new ways and finding strange new sounds

So it is as I feared. Same goes for delay?

If you want to experiment; get the demo version of Ableton Live. Unlike other sequencers (which have no demo versions or are completely brain dead in terms of allowing you to reroute effects on the fly) you can switch the effects around.

It even comes with an electronic piano modeler :).

You'll quickly hear the result and find out if it's desired.
