Members 1001gear
I have a Roland string ensemble (single space sample module) from a long time ago in a land far far away which I stopped using because it sucked. Just the other day I hooked it up for some layering and relearning issues aside, I'm happy to report that it still sucks.

Members 1001gear
MOC-1? SE-1. It's really clunky besides the bad samples.

Whoa you got me on that one! lol I never heard of it but I guess it's from the same era as those Expansion modules.
Members 1001gear
Yup same line; just the strings. I'm now using a string patch from a Yamaha MU 80 instead. I was never a fan of piano with a string layer but turns out it's perfect for practice where long notes would otherwise die out.

Members 1001gear
Do you mean the Roland M-SE1? Yes that's it. It's been staring back at me for years. Never paid attention to the model #. I guess the M is for module?

I think so, yes. I hadn't heard one for years so I went looking and found the onboard demos online. It didn't sound too atrocious to me, considering it's a 90s era module. Members jorhay1
I really like the Vintage Synth module. It sounds better than the 1080/2080, maybe because it's optimized for the unit? It doesn't have the aliasing/distortion problem the JV's have.
