Paint strippers... any benefit to sandpaper?

If its a poly finis, stripping it with a chemical is a waste of time and money.

Theres supposed to be some aircraft stuff that will strip poly, but its still only going to take it down to the

primer, and you would have to sand from there on anyway.

 

Using an electric sander on poly is my recomendation. Use heavy paper till you start hitting wood then switch to lighter paper

so you dint remove any more wood than nessasary. Areas round the neck pocket can loose as much as a millimeter or two making a neck overhang the pocket.

 

For a lacquer finish, theres nothing quicker and simpler than paint remover. Apply it, use a scraper, rubber gloves and some heavy steel wool and it comes off like butter.
