Members Majoria
44.1 kHz and 24 bit. The bits make a bigger difference than the frequency so I keep the frequency down and save file size so I can have more plugins. Besides, CD's are at 44.1 and so it will end up there anyway. Moderators Lee Knight Posted November 18, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 18, 2008 I used to be 24/44.1, but now I'm 24/48. Up to 48 now because my lightpipe converter will only run at 48k and it's cheap and it sounds GREAT! (Aphex 142) So, I run 48k because I have to. Happily. Members piersonm
24/48. Getting another external HD and going 24/96 for the next project.
Phil O'Keefe
24 bit / 44.1 kHz. It's very rare that I use anything else, although our setup is fully 96 kHz capable.

Members Kaux
Thanks guys... for those of you using more than 44.1... is there any particular reason?
Members Kaux
By the way, does the forum still have polls?
Phil O'Keefe
By the way, does the forum still have polls? Yes, you can still post polls. On the issue of "why?", it's mainly due to the fact that there is a considerable DSP / computer processor "hit" when running at higher sample rates, and storage requirements also increase with higher sample rates. Since almost everything I do goes to either CD or MP3, 24/44.1 is sufficient for my needs.
Members nerol1st
24/44.1 However I just recorded some impulses at 96k.
Members albiedamned
What frequency rate are you using? Lately maybe once a week, though if it was only up to me it would be a much higher rate.
Members GZsound
I use 24/48 just because I was used to doing it that way with my ADAT machine transfers to the computer.. I have always stayed at 48K. The very last thing I do to a file is convert the sample rate to 44.1/16.
Members ermghoti II
Destination rate for the planned format of the project. 44.1kHz for CD, 48kHz for DVD.
Members C JoGo
Our external effects will only go to 48 =---there we stay. We burn a 16 & 24 CD for the clients

Members TBush
24/44.1kHz. Me too- started at 44.1 on DA-88's and ADATs, and just kept it at 44.1 when I switched to HD recording lo these many 9 years ago...
Members UstadKhanAli
44.1kHz makes sense for a lot of things...no conversion at all. If I did a higher sample rate, I'd make it 2x the amount (88.2kHz) so the conversion is simply halved, hoping that the "math" in the computer is simpler and easier and better sounding.
