Members bdemon Posted October 29, 2009 Members Share Posted October 29, 2009 Been doing some audio editing for a pal's short film, mostly adding footsteps & stuff. But now I need to get the levels balanced between the really loud dialogue scenes and the quiet ones. Any tips? Using Logic 8, I've got the dialogue split between two tracks, as one of them had some mic/wind issues I had to clear out. I suck at using compression, despite studying tutorials up the wazoo. I bring the threshold down, compensate that drop by increasing gain, but I don't hear a balance between the tracks. Then again, playing with the track levels sort of helps...but then I wonder why I should bother with compression! (Been using Logic for 15 years and I still feel like a noob...) Phil O'Keefe Posted October 30, 2009 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I'd possibly use compression to "even things out" a little, but I agree - it's primarily a leve issue, and you'll probably need to adjust your faders to get the mix right instead of trying to get it to work with just compression alone.
